Miracle-Ear: A Community Business

Miracle-Ear is a community business; all Miracle-Ear locations try to get involved with their local areas. At Miracle-Ear?s Santa Barbara hearing center, in which franchisee Michael Bailey is affiliated, he attends senior functions and county fairs to educate the public about the importance of hearing loss and hearing tests. Doing this helps to build trust in the community as well as build long term relationships with clients.

During these senior functions, Bailey will sometimes give the senior residents in Santa Barbara a hearing test for free. Usually during the hearing test, Bailey sits down with the patient for a moment and assesses their level of hearing loss in order to learn about their history of hearing impairment. If it?s determined that the person could benefit from hearing aids in Santa Barbara, Bailey then suggests they visit the hearing center to get fitted.

Miracle-Ear suggests that patients start getting their hearing tested around the age of fifty-five, and then every year after that, if hearing loss isn?t initially detected. It is especially important to get hearing tests in Santa Barbara if you are regularly around loud noises, such as car horns, live music, plane engines or motorcycles. Any exposure to sound over 85 decibels, for an extended period of time, can cause hearing loss.

There are many different types of hearing aids that patients can choose from. According to Bailey, the most popular one that Miracle-Ear sells is the ME4. The ME4 is a solution package that is fully digital and includes a noise reduction system. It also has a feedback reduction system that helps reduce whistling, as well as a wind noise reduction system.

Additionally, there are many different styles of Miracle-Ear hearing aids in Santa Barbara. There is a Behind-The-Ear hearing aid, which provides the patient with a lot of flexibility and a secure fit. There is an Open Fit Behind-The-Ear aid, which offers the patient a lot of comfort and flexibility. There are cosmetic styles available, too, which can be virtually invisible to other people

Many of Miracle-Ear?s hearing aids are customized to the patient?s needs. Every hearing aid can be customized, and Bailey says that there is often a customized element to every device, such as the length of tubing inside it.

Reasons that a patient might need their hearing aid customized often have to do with their level of hearing loss and their listening and communication needs. Certain patients might need to hear specific sounds more frequently than other sounds, and some might need to reduce background noises in order to be able to better focus.
