LAS VEGAS (AP) ? Republicans and Democrats are making a furious push to turn out voters in Nevada, home to a stalemated Senate race and a furious contest between President Barack Obama and Republican Mitt Romney.
Television ads thrum back-to-back, hour after hour, with charges and counter-attacks by Republican Sen. Dean Heller and his Democratic challenger, Rep. Shelley Berkley. Democrats have a 90,000-voter edge statewide. But there's much bitterness about the economy in the state, home to the nation's highest unemployment rate.
Nevada is one of several states in which the race for a Senate seat is up for grabs with just days to go before the Nov. 6 election. Republicans must gain four seats to win the majority if Obama wins, or three if Romney prevails.
