Calling all Madison/Fitchburg area cycling advocates!
On Thursday, August 23 at 7:00 p.m., Dane County Parks will host an informational meeting to discuss potential development of a new mountain bike trail system adjacent to the Capital City Trail and west of Seminole Highway in the City of Fitchburg.? The project is included as a recommendation of the 2012-17 Dane County Parks and Open Space Plan and is consistent with plan priorities to improve access and connectivity to recreation facilities through non-motorized trails.? City of Fitchburg staff will also be present to provide an overview of plans being generated for the Dawley Park Bike Hub located on Seminole Highway.
The proposed beginner-level? mountain bike trails would be built by Capital Off-Road Pathfinders, in conjunction with the International Mountain Biking Association.? The trails would provide an opportunity for children, families, and cyclists of all skill levels to experience the sport of mountain biking right in their own backyard in a low-risk environment.
The meeting will take place at the Fitchburg Community Center-Fitchburg Room, 5510 Lacy Road.? Anyone interested in learning more about this project or advocating for its adoption should attend this meeting.
